Key Features

• Authentic .45 ACP Chambering: Fires the classic, hard-hitting .45 ACP round, offering the ballistic profile and recoil feel true to the original 1911 service pistol.
• Durable Parkerized Finish: The matte gray parkerized surface provides excellent corrosion resistance and reduces glare, just as it did on military-issue models, ensuring a historically accurate and protective exterior.
• Classic 5-Inch Barrel: The full-length 5" barrel contributes to sight radius for improved accuracy potential and delivers the standard velocity and handling characteristics expected from a Government model 1911.
• Traditional Wood Grips: Features checkered wood grip panels that provide a secure, comfortable hold and complete the authentic GI-style aesthetic. The grip angle and frame are true to the original John Browning design.
• 8-Round Magazine Capacity: Includes one single-stack, 8-round metal magazine, matching the standard capacity of the classic M1911A1 and offering a balance of firepower and a slim, ergonomic grip profile.
• GI-Style Sights & Controls: Equipped with low-profile, fixed military-style sights and a spur hammer, this model maintains the clean, snag-resistant profile and operational manual of arms of the historic sidearm.

Performance & Applications

This pistol is built for specific roles where its traditional design and reliable operation shine. Its performance is rooted in simplicity and a direct connection to the 1911's legacy.

Recreational & Target Shooting: The Rock Island Armory GI Standard FS offers a pure, unadulterated shooting experience. The consistent trigger pull of the single-action design and the substantial feel of the .45 ACP round make it a satisfying tool for honing fundamental marksmanship skills at the range. It is an ideal firearm for shooters who appreciate mechanical interaction and wish to experience the platform as it was originally conceived.

Historical Appreciation & Collection: For enthusiasts of military history or the evolution of firearms, this model serves as an accessible and shootable representation of the standard-issue 1911A1 carried through multiple 20th-century conflicts. It allows collectors to own, handle, and fire a piece of history without the premium cost and concerns associated with using an antique original.

Platform for Customization: Due to its adherence to the widely supported 1911 platform specifications, this pistol is a popular starting point for custom projects. Its robust forged frame and slide can serve as a canvas for those wishing to learn about or implement aftermarket upgrades such as modern sights, triggers, or beavertail grip safeties, allowing for personalized modification over time.
