Does the S&W M&P9 M2.0 4″ Optics Ready need an adapter plate for a red dot?

No. SKU 13563 has a factory-milled slide that accepts most popular red dot sights directly without an adapter plate. Compatible footprints include Shield RMSc, Trijicon RMR, and Holosun 507K among others.

What magazines does it ship with?

Two 15-round magazines. Standard Smith & Wesson M&P9 magazines are widely available and interchangeable across the M&P9 family.

Is it a good carry pistol?

At 25.9 oz unloaded and 7.3″ OAL, it balances shootability with concealability. The polymer frame keeps weight low, and 15+1 capacity gives solid firepower for EDC.

What is Armornite® and why does it matter?

Armornite® is S&W’s proprietary ferritic nitrocarburizing process. It hardens stainless steel components and resists corrosion well beyond standard bluing — critical for a daily carry gun exposed to sweat and humidity.

Does it have a thumb safety?

SKU 13563 does not. Smith & Wesson sells a separate variant with a manual thumb safety. The M2.0 uses a striker-fired design with a trigger safety as its primary manual safety.
